How To Do Homemade Body Wraps

Homemade body wraps are an easy way to treat yourself to a spa experience without spending a lot of money. Body wraps are effective at tightening and toning the skin, as well as smoothing and moisturizing dull, dry skin. Clay-based body wraps are especially effective at drawing toxins from the skin and delivering essential minerals and nutrients, according to Wellsphere.

Step 1: Boil two cups of water in a medium-sized pot or bowl on the stove or in the microwave.

Step 2: Add one cup of bentonite or seaweed clay, 1/4 cup sea salt, and two tablespoons olive oil. You can buy both types of clay online, and you can also find them at some natural foods stores in the health and beauty aisle.

Step 3: Mix well until the ingredients are well blended.

Step 4: Set the mixture aside to cool.

Step 5: Take a hot shower and exfoliate the skin with a loofah or body scrub. This prepares the skin for the wrap.

Step 6: Exit the shower and pat yourself dry with towels.

Step 7: Check the clay mixture to make sure it is sufficiently cool to apply to the body.

Step 8: Apply the clay mixture liberally to all over the body or only in specific areas.

Step 9: Take towels, or strips of old fabric cut to the size of towels, and wrap all the areas that have been covered with the clay.

Step 10: Rest for 45 minutes while the clay mixture absorbs into the skin.

Step 11: Rinse the clay from the skin thoroughly in the shower.

Step 12: Pat the skin dry and apply moisturizer.
